What a great week we had in Kindergarten! We have had a busy week exploring nature and our school environment. Please note we will be going outside even when the weather is chilly so please ensure your child is dressed appropriately.
This week we discussed our Fire Drill Procedure and hwo we get out of our building safely. We will be having a fire drill in the next couple of weeks.
We have been learning about compliments and how we can give a meaningful compliment to a friend. Ask your child for an example of a compliment they might have given or received.
Our inquiry work this year will center around the idea of exploration. Currently, we are exploring the classroom community, nature, and colour.
We would love for your child to explore your home for different coloured items that your child can bring back to school. We will use the beautiful treasures they collect to:
- Sort by colour
- Expand descriptive vocabulary
- Discuss concepts of different shades of colour
- Create a colour community art piece
- Talk about what is beautiful and how that might be different for everyone
- Crayons
- Buttons
- Small old toys
- Twigs
- Leaves
- Beads
- Scraps of coloured paper
- Ribbon or wrapping paper

Parent-Led Conferences:
Booking has begun for our Parent-Led Conferences. I am available to meet on Thursday, September 19th from 12:00pm - 2:30pm, 3:30pm - 7:00pm and Friday, September 20th from 8:00am - 12:00pm. You are welcome to bring your child to this meeting.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
PM Room Parent:
We are looking for a parent who would like to be our PM Kindergarten room parent. This role sends out invitations to different classroom events during the year. If you are interested, please let me know.
Field Trips/Inclass events:
We will be having several field trips over the course of our year. In order to volunteer the school board requires a Police Clearance Letter which takes a few weeks to process. If you were interested in joining us we would absolutely LOVE to have you! We have 2 potential field trips within the coming weeks and will not be able to proceed without adequate adult supervision.
Scholastic Orders:
We would also love to have a volunteer put together the Scholastic book order forms every other month. This person does not need to worry about any of the ordering. If you would like to do this, please email Kristi at kcmckay@cbe.ab.ca.
Play-Doh:
In Kindergarten we use a lot of Play-Doh. It would be a huge help if we could have families sign up to make Play-doh for our classes throughout the year. Signup Genius Please sign up using the link provided.
