This week we continued settling in and becoming more familiar to our routines, school environment and our new friends. Our major focus this week was on kindness and what that looks like in our everyday life. Ask me what are ways I can be kind to my friends, school and environment?
We reviewed our fire drill procedures and what happens when the fire bell goes off - ask me what we do when this happens.
Our major focus was working on our fine motor skills - we made beaded friendship bracelets, worked on our cutting skills (which we later used to an art piece featuring our names) and even explored with locks and keys - ask me which was my favourite activity
In math, the concept of sorting was introduced this week - encourage me to help you sort at home (shoes, clothes, toys, cutlery etc) Sorting naturally progressed into pattern making with some friends and will be continued next week as a whole class - encourage me to make patterns with everyday items!
Our love of dominoes, both playing as well as lining them up to watch them fall, exploded this week amongst our new friends - ask me how I played with dominoes this week.
REMINDERS
Davison Orchard Apple Fundraiser:
If you would like to order apples, please send either cash or a cheque made out to Andrew Sibbald Parents Association.
Parent-Led Conferences:
Booking has begun for our Parent-Led Conferences. I still have availability on both days and look forward to meeting with you to discuss the EYE-TA assessment coming up in October with you. You are more than welcome to bring your child to this meeting.
Field Trips/Inclass events:
We will be having several field trips over the course of our year. In order to volunteer the school board requires a Police Clearance Letter which takes a few weeks to process. If you were interested in joining us we would absolutely LOVE to have you! We have 2 potential field trips within the coming weeks and will not be able to proceed without adequate adult supervision.
Scholastic Orders:We would also love to have a volunteer put together the Scholastic book order forms every other month. This person does not need to worry about any of the ordering. If you would like to do this, please email me at hesiarkiewicz@cbe.ab.ca
Play-Doh:In Kindergarten we use a lot of Play-doh. It would be a huge help if we could have families sign up to make Play-doh for our classes throughout the year. Signup Genius Please sign up using the link provided.
