What a fun and exciting week we had in Kindergarten!
Literacy:
We are working on printing our names using an upper case letter at the beginning and lower case letters for the rest of the letters. In our journals this week, we used our imaginations to see what we could turn a stick into, a box into and a random "mistake" into something beautiful. When you are at conferences this week, be sure to check out your child's journal to see their drawings.
Math:
We have begun talking about how we can sort objects and learning to copy some hand action patterns. Ask your child if there are any patterns at home. We sorted all of our birthdays and made a graph of them in the classroom. Ask your child which month has the most birthdays or the least birthdays.
Conferences:
Thank you to all of the families who were able to come to conferences. It is lovely to connect with you and talk about all of your wonderful children. If you have any questions after you leave the conference, please email me.
Terry Fox Run:
We will be hosting our Annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 27. PM Kinders and families are welcome and encouraged to join us. As we prepare for this event, we will be running laps around our school to help build up our running stamina. We have practiced positive self-talk and how important it is to cheer on our peers. We Can Do It!
Eye See…Eye Learn® (ESEL®)
is a program provided by The Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Alberta Government. Through ESEL®, doctors of optometry detect, diagnose and treat eye health problems in children as they enter the school system. Alberta Health Care already covers the cost of comprehensive eye exams for all children in the province. This program takes that one step further by providing free eyeglasses to kindergarten students who need a prescription.
