We have continued our work with writing our names in the morning, and if we can already do that, working on the name of one of our new friends! Ask me to show you how I write my name.
We read and discussed some of our different body parts and their functions. Ask me what I thought was the best part of me and why. We also read and discussed how we are all special and different. Ask me what I drew in my visual journal for All About Me.
In Math, we continued with our passion for sorting and patterning. Ask your child for help sorting everyday items at home - cutlery, socks, laundry, toys, shoes etc. Ask me what I sort around the classroom everyday? We all learned how to make a pattern. Ask me to make a pattern with everyday items. We explored our names. Ask me how many letters I have in my first name. We put all our birthdays into a graph. Ask me which month has the most birthdays? Which months have no birthdays?
Snack:
We have snack every day at 9:15.
Many of our friends are coming to school hungry in the morning- either not eating breakfast or not eating enough. As our morning always start with a hands on activity to get our minds ready for the day, this has caused a lot of disruption this week. I ask that I have your full support in getting a solid morning routine established for everyone in the classroom.
Conferences:
Thank you to everyone for coming in and taking the time to discuss your fabulous child. It was delightful connecting with you all. Thank you for the incredible feedback and support from all our beloved families. I am so grateful to have your child be a part of our classroom and I am extremely lucky to have them be a part of my day. Open communication is very important to me - If you ever have any questions/concerns/comments please do not hesitate to contact me.
Terry Fox Run:
We will be hosting our Annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 27. As we prepare for this event, we will be running laps around our school to help build up our running stamina. We have practiced positive self-talk and how important it is to cheer on our peers. We Can Do It!
Eye See…Eye Learn® (ESEL®)
is a program provided by The Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Alberta Government. Through ESEL®, doctors of optometry detect, diagnose and treat eye health problems in children as they enter the school system. Alberta Health Care already covers the cost of comprehensive eye exams for all children in the province. This program takes that one step further by providing free eyeglasses to kindergarten students who need a prescription.
Superstore Optical
Did you know? Kids ages 4 – 10 receive a complete pair of FREE glasses once a year on select frames at the Real Canadian Superstore.
