What a BUSY week we had in Kindergarten!
Literacy: we worked on retelling stories and keeping events in the proper sequence. We talked about first, then and last. We drew about our Halloween costumes and shared our excitement with our friends. Next time you read a story, ask your child to tell you what happened first, then and last.
Math: We continued to build patterns with shapes, colours in our names and objects in the classroom. Ask your child to show you the difference between an AB pattern and an ABC pattern.
Buddies: We met our Grade 5/6 buddies and created Halloween artwork with them. Ask your child about their buddy.
Classroom Expectations: We have had a few discussions this week regarding classroom expectations. Please ask your child about the expectations we have talked about.
Thank you to all of the volunteers we had this week - we love having volunteers! We can do so many more fun things when we have extra hands to help.
Next week we will be focusing on Peace, Unity and being kind as we approach our Remembrance Day. Peace, Poppies and the colour Red! PM Kinders will be performing a Poppy poem in the assembly on Friday at 10:30am. AM Kinders and Families are welcome to attend.
Communication Folders
Please check and empty your child's folder daily as it showcases some of their work. This is a great opportunity to connect home and school life by engaging with artifacts from their day. Immediately after emptying it, have your child pack it into their backpacks themselves to further encourage responsibility, independence and accountability. "My mom forgot my folder" will no longer be a viable excuse.
Picture Day
Orders Due - Monday, November 4th
Individual and class pictures were sent home this week with your child. Please note that since our pictures went home on Monday, and not last Friday like the rest of the school, our division has been granted an extension for picture day ordering. If you will be ordering pictures via the school please have your orders in by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4. If you are ordering online, you have a few months to do so and they will be sent directly to your home. Picture Day retakes are on Wednesday, November 13.
