I enjoyed hearing all about your family's thanksgiving festivities from my kindergarten friends. It sounds like everyone had an exciting, food and family filled, amazing long weekend!
We started working on phonics this week by discovering the sounds that make up our hidden word of the month. Ask me what sound "P" "U" and "M" make. Ask me to come up with words that start with that sound (i.e. pear, pink, umbrella, up, month, math). If I am really good at that, ask me to find that sound at the END of a word (i.e. cap, top, calm, gem). My personal highlight of the week was seeing some of their faces light up as when they put together the "U" and "P" sound to read UP all by themselves.
Our walking field trip to Fish Creek was a massive success. Thank you sooo much to the parents that had the ability to come in to volunteer with us. We couldn't have done it without you! Ask me what I saw. Ask me what I heard. Ask me what I touched. Ask me what I smelled. Ask me what the most exciting/adventurous/fun part of my day was. The feedback from our Kinders has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to our next walking trip to Fish Creek sometime in the winter as well as spring so that we may explore the same space, in different seasons.
