We learned about 2 powerful symbols this week. Ask me what the poppy means and why we wear it. Show me this symbol ☮ and ask me what it means. We collaborated as a Kinder Team and made a beautiful Peace is Unity art piece for the Remembrance Day Assembly. Ask me what colour I picked for my hand print. Ask me what "Peace is'' to me. We worked on our fine motor skills and made poppies. Ask me how and what I used to make it. We collaborated as a class for a peace wreath that will be displayed in our classroom for the rest of the year to commemorate our feelings of peace, happiness and unity. Ask me how we made it. Ask me what peaceful, happy thoughts I had while stringing my beads.

This week we learned that there are different ways we can read books. Ask how I can read books (read the pictures, read the words, retell the story) In order to ignite our love for reading and books, we have been beginning our days with "Book Looks". This has been extremely successful thus far and I look forward to seeing how this progresses. This week I have had kinders "read" books to me, or to a group of other children during play. It's been heartwarming to experience. Feel free to visit the library and take advantage of all countless free books at your disposal. Have their children pick the book and have them read the pictures to you. The passion for wanting to read the words will ignite as they progress!
This week we continued our work with number recognition and counting. Have your child count everything possible. Ask me to count the number of steps from the bathroom to my bedroom door, stairs at home, vegetables on my plate, number of shoes at the door, number of toys of a certain type etc. We want to make them comfortable with numbers in all scenarios - the more hands on, the better.
Conferences
Conference booking will become live on Wednesday, Nov 13. Please ensure you book a conference time with me to discuss your child's progress so far this year. I am available ONLY on Thursday, November 21 from 11:30am - 2:30pm and 3:00 - 7:00pm.
Outside clothing
Kinder loves to play outside. Please ensure your child has a warm jacket, snow pants, mittens and a hat every day. If your child is not dressed appropriately for our weather, they will have to sit in the office while we are outside.
Photo Retakes
Picture Retake day is on Wednesday November 13 - if this is something of interest, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately.
