Week of December 2 - December 5

What a whirlwind of a week we have had!

This week we have been very busy preparing for the concert happening at the end of the month.  The holiday spirit has burst through the school and right into our classroom. We had a new member arrive in our classroom to watch over us. Ask me what the Elf's name is (Helpy). Ask him what he particularly watches for (kindness and helpfulness). Ask me what Helpy asked us to do to show helpfulness (organizing the boot rack in the hallway). We will be taking Helpys lead with ways to show helpfulness and kindness around the classroom and around the school. Helpy is already so joy-filled, with the kindness and helpfulness, he is seeing from your families.  Thank you to the families that have been able to send in donations for our Kinder Food Drive as well as the Fill-a-Sock Campaign organized by the grade 1 team.

 Helpy's Mission: Helpfulness - Complete!

In Literacy, we tackled the letter sounds Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp.  Ask me the make the sound a K, L, M, N, O, P makes. Ask me to tell you some words that start with those sounds.  We also wrote letters to Santa.  Ask me what I drew.  Ask me if I copied the words for my letter from a whiteboard or if I traced over Mrs. S's yellow words.

In Art, we made snowmen by flexing our fine motor skills.  We used torn pieces of white paper to build a snowman on our page. Ask me what kind of snowman I built. Ask me if I made only the face.  Ask me how many snowballs tall I made my snowman.  Ask me what was the most challenging part. Once my snowman was complete, Ask me what I filled the rest of the page with.

Veteran's Food Drive

Beginning Monday, December 2, we will be collecting non-perishable food items for our Veteran's Food Drive. We will collect the food in our classroom until Dec 17. For the Holiday Concert evenings of December 17th and 18th, we will have large boxes by the front doors so families can drop off food before watching the performances. On top of the already amazing reason for participating in this food drive, we will be using the food to sort, make patterns, discuss different 3D shapes and learn more about healthy vs. unhealthy food choices. We would love to have your support!
