Hello Families!

PM Kinders, we are going to the Glenbow Museum tomorrow. Please check your email for more information.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who came or are coming with us to the Glenbow Museum! We truly appreciate you and your time.

Literacy
This week we talked a lot about Winter. We discussed and drew about what we wear in Winter, our favourite thing about Winter and our favourite activities to do in Winter. Ask your child what their favourite activity to do in Winter is and why. When students enter the classroom to begin their day, they have to "sign-in" on a vertical surface using a whiteboard marker. Writing on a vertical surface increases muscle strength in their hands and arms and improves fine motor skills. Ask your child if they notice a difference in printing their name on a horizontal surface (flat) or a vertical surface (up and down).

Math
We worked on making 10 using blocks and learned the new word: "more". Ask your child what "more" means and see if they can show you an example. For example: "Show me 10 blocks, some red and some blue, but you have MORE red." For everything we do in class, whether it is counting the number of bounces a ball makes, seconds to get to the carpet or people at a table, we are using our numbers 1-10. We count everything. We start at 1 and go up and we start at 10 and go down. We will begin to count from random numbers up and down to increase our number flexibility.

Centre Fun
During centres this week we played with snow and even created pieces of art with snow. Ask your child how they created their art piece.

Robotics
We will be starting our Robotics residency with Mr. Newman next week. Kindergarten will be using Ozobots robots. Check out what they can do: Ozobot video. Your child will be able to demonstrate how to use these little robots at our Student-Led conferences in March.
