Firstly, I apologize for the double "Twin" emails I sent earlier this week. There was a technology glitch.
We have had such a great week learning about robots, working with Mr. Newman, playing outside, new centres and Twin Day! It was so fun to see all of the different twins in our classes!
Robotics
We had the best week learning to use and code our Ozobots. We started the week not even knowing what an Ozobot was and now we can get it to move, slow down, speed up and go into turbo speed. Ask your child about the different codes and how we coded our Ozobot. We will continue with this learning in a couple of weeks.
Literacy
We read a great story this week called "Snowflake Bentley". Ask your child about the main character Snowflake Bentley and what we learned about Snowflakes. We also had the opportunity to talk about how this book was different than the stories we usually read (true story). Ask your child how this book was different and whether they prefer true stories vs. fiction stories.
Library books
Children have the opportunity every day to change their library books. Please help to remind them to bring their book back to school when they have read their book so they can pick another one. If your child has more than one library book at home, please ensure both books are returned to school. In Kindergarten, we are only taking one book home at a time.
Donations
We will be doing some crafts and projects that require some supplies from home. If you have any of the following, please send them to school with your child:
- toilet paper or paper towel rolls
- ribbon
- string
Valentine's Day Cards
OPTIONAL: If you would like to participate, please make/create/purchase cards at home, label with "friend" instead of a specific child's name and send them with your child on Wednesday, Feb 12. It is imperative that enough cards are made for each student in your child's class. We have 19 students in the AM class and 21 students in the PM class. We will distribute them on Wed. Feb 12 and we will make Valentine's bags in class that week. Please do not send treats/food.
Winter Clothing
Unfortunately, our Lost and Found collection continues to grow. It would be greatly appreciated if your child's name could be written in mitts and hats so we can return them.
